Tulum International Airport (IATA Code: TUY – ICAO Code: MMTU), officially Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport, is located about 10 kilometers south of Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico. History of Tulum International Airport

In March 2022, President López Obrador reported that for the construction work of the Tulum International Airport and sections 6 and 7 of the Mayan Train, 80 military engineers will leave for the Yucatan Peninsula, in addition to the 75 who left earlier for start the building works, for which the number of troops that will participate in the works would add up to 155.

The Tulum International Airport contemplates its construction on around 1,200 hectares southeast of Tulum, where there will also be room for a Military Air Base that will enhance the security and surveillance of the national airspace and will also dedicate efforts to assist the population in case of disasters. and forest fires.

The project includes the construction of a runway of around 3,700 meters, as well as a fuel terminal with a capacity of 6 million liters, a rescue and firefighting station, as well as a platform for fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

Also, it will have a passenger terminal, general aviation offices, parking for passengers, employees, taxis and buses, and a Mayan Train terminal.

Construction work on the civil airport facilities began in April and will conclude in December 2023. This new aeronautical complex will operate from May 2024, four months after the inauguration of the Mayan Train.
